In second grade, students are expected to count within 1000 and skip- count by 5s, 10s, and 100s (MGSE2.NBT.2). We have used this resource in school; however, students who need extra practice may use another at home. Students should be comfortable counting within 1,000. Some ways to practice at home include:
1) Counting a large quantity (over 100) of an item found in your house (Ex: crayons, paper clips, dry beans)
2) Collect something with your child over time. Many students have a hard time picturing large quantities. Then, count your items.
